Dusk till Dawn to Host World Poker Tour in November 6 years ago Alan Graham The WPT Nottingham Main Event and a £500 “WPT National” will both have £1 million guarantees when the World Poker Tour comes to Dusk Till Dawn in November. May 19, 2014 The Dusk Till Dawn (DTD) club in Nottingham has pulled off a major coup by persuading the might of the World Poker Tour to return to the United Kingdom for what should be DTD’s largest-ever poker festival. UK & Ireland PokerNews learned of these plans for a number of weeks, but were sworn to.
The fantastic Dusk Till Dawn poker club just held another fantastic festival this past November which may be its biggest success to date. The £500 WPT event and the £3,000 WPT main event both broke their £1,000,000 guarantees. . Two tournaments in the same festival busting such a massive guarantee is brilliant and a great testament to how the club is run.
As expected the festival was ran pretty much flawlessly. I could almost copy and paste the review I wrote for the first Sky Poker festival they ran almost a year ago which also ran on oiled wheels. The dealers and floor staff are world class, they feed the players and the atmosphere created at the club is friendly and welcoming. The schedule also offered something for everyone. For the sicko high rollers there was a £6,000 high roller, for those wanting to get involved for a more affordable price tag there was the £125 tournament and there were half a dozen events with buys ins ranging between these two. All the events had guarantees too. A big reason the festival was such a success was the big push DTD make when it comes to qualifying players via satellite tournament into their events.
Speaking of the guarantee, Rob Yong, the owner of the club questioned at the end of day 1a, when the numbers were a little lower than expected, “Last time we held a £3,000 we had a £300,000 guarantee, what are we doing tripling it?”
Well Rob, on behalf of the poker community let me thank you again for sticking your neck out with such a big guarantee and let me thank you Simon “Aces” Trumper and all of your staff for providing yet again a fantastic festival.
If on an online tournament it looks like there is going to be overlay, the players are usually ecstatic about the prospect of extra value added to their potential pay days. This just isn’t the case at the club. I didn’t speak to a single person who wasn’t rooting for the festival to be a success and for them to meet the £1 million guarantees, which they did.

The only slight problem I saw was that their £25 nightly game couldn’t run on one night, the club was a victim of its own success and simply did not have the table space to accommodate the tournament. However they are generally so good at looking after all of their players, that I’m sure everyone would understand that this was a rare occurrence in unique conditions.
From Dusk Till Dawn Cast
I’m managing to say a lot of positive things despite the cards running rather cruelly for me! I bubbled a satellite into the main event coming 3rd when top two spots would receive £3,000 worth of DTD tournament tokens. Fortunately for my bankroll I had already satellite into the event, but then I managed to bust the main event as well when my 1010 got called by A6o on the bubble and he spiked his ace! I suppose I wouldn’t play the game if it didn’t hurt when I lose.
The glory for the £1,000,000 events went Eleanor Gudger who won the WPT £500 for £140,000 and to Matas Cimbolas who took down the main event for £200,000. Big congratulations to both of these players for these huge accomplishments.

World Poker Tour Dusk Till Dawn 2
I’m really looking forward to Dusk Till Dawns next major festival which I believe is the £1,000 Sky Poker Championships which return in February 2015. Let’s hope I can survive the bubble next time and take home a trophy.
